This is essentially a two channel audio forum. Stereophile? You purchased a home theater receiver. If you want a bunch of compromises you have started off on the right foot. I you are seeking good sounding music you have started with a poor decision. What do you want? A home theater, or something that will do recorded music justice?
Well, that's not a nice welcome for a beginner and, indeed, some of us here have gone beyond two channel audio. However, I cannot help with these speakers as they are unknown to me and suggest the OP try here: http://www.hometheater.com/category/ask-home-theater

I have Denon receiver hooked up to Infinity speakers and an Outlaw subwoofer. I love listening to it! I do want to upgrade the speakers and am really interested in the Wharfdale Diamond 10.1. They are about $300, but have a rear facing port, so you need to think about placing them further away from the wall.
Other speakers I have been interested in include the Polk and PSB lines. You can get good prices for PSB at Crutchfield. It is best to give the speakers a listen. And for the record, JBL speakers do not have a great reputation in audiophile circles while the ones I mentioned are well respected by people who love good sound.
I hope this helps! Stick around here in the forum, and let us know what you decide!

Thank you all for your feebacks and suggestions. I appreciate all the help.
I liked the suggestion about the PSB spekers and will reasearch them a little more.
Best regards,
Dave
