Here something I've been playing around with along with some other things. Ye olde degausser, typically for degaussing CDs, even LPs and cables. Any degausser will do, anything from the old workhorse from Radio Shack, the large bulk tape eraser, I use the Walker Talisman Degausser that has been around quite a while by now and that one assumes contains niodymium magnets. Since one of the other (scoff, scoff) audio forums has been discussing the pros and cons of degaussing, including why degaussing non magnetic objects might be beneficial, I have been expanding my applications of degaussing accordingly with rather surprising results. Why, just last night and this morning I degaussed the RCA jacks, both female and male, on all connectors, all power cord plugs, all electron tubes, the circuit breakers on the circuit breaker box. All I can say is wow, wow, wow!! Much better signal!! Very lifelike and transparent with great intricacy and bass performance. A related subject on that other (scoff, scoff) site is the replacement of all steel screws in speaker driver assemblies with non magnetic ones, like brass. In fact I just received a breathless call this very morning from someone I know who just replaced all the steel screws on his mini monitors last night.
