Returning to the hobby of audio systems after a long recess, the web forums seem to offer new resources for picking systems. Unfortunately, in my city, dealers no longer exist. Yet, the combinations/permutations of available components seem to have exploded. Without a dealer, it appears very difficult to decide on the proper matching of components, interconnects and cables.
My experience dates to the Dynaco Stereo 70, PAT-4 and AR3a speakers. Along the way there were Maggies(2.5R), B&W801's and stacked Advents with a host of electronics. (In some of those years we debated endlessly about accoustic suspension vs. ported cabinet designs.)
Still in the closet, but in mint condition, is an Advent 300 receiver, a pair of (New) Larger Advents* and a pair of KEF Reference Series Model Two speakers. Without foreclosing future upgrades and improvements, which of those - if any - should I keep/sell? Toward a goal of building a $1000 to $3000 entry system, what are the (compatible) components you'd recommend?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!
Music: classical, pop, vocals, country (no rock/rap)
Level: moderate listening levels - unless inspired!
Room: 16x22x8
[* note that the Advents have original surrounds that haven't been inspected]
