the "other" stereo magazine thinks very highly of them.
John Atkinson reviewed them in Stereophile in March; he raved about them; If I had $14,000 I would be licking my chops, perhaps.
Yeah, I really like the Classe' amps alot. I have never heard a set-up with them that sounded thin, or uninvolving. 14 Grand is alot of coin for sure. Hopefully the used market will have a pair available soon. I have found several pairs of CM 400's for reasonable prices. With these, power should never be an issue with ANY speaker system.
I auditioned the CA-M600 monoblocks last week: Speakers were Cremona M's, preamp Ayre K-5xe-mp, CD player Ayre C-5xe-mp.
I have a pair of Cremona's and wanted to hear how they would sound with the M600's - and I was not disappointed. In fact the setup sounded absolutely beautiful!! Deep, wide and stable soundstage, "sweet" highs, nothing harsh or glaring. Bass was solid and tight - although the Cremonas don't dig real deep.
My next step is to bring my Simaudio I7 in for a side by side comparison. I will do this after Christmas, and if the difference in sound is as it seemed during my audition I will likely buy the M600's.
During the audition with the M600's we also had an opportunitu to listen to the new Sonus Faber Futura and Evolution, with Boulder, Scarloti, and Accoustic Research. I'm ruined for life after listening to this gear.
