Aloha,
Just saw the update about the hi-fi portion of CES moving from the Alexis Park to the Venetian.
Gotta say, the rooms at the Venetian (see the main page update pic) are great for a hi-fi party.
The lower part of the room can be sound, the upper, business.
The building is solid and the floors and walls are first rate. (I've stayed there...
...)
The local scuttlebutt (spelling?) is that they weren't sure of the teardown date for the Alexis Park to make room for a new mega resort, so the move happened.
Good news, nice rooms that will sound okie-doke.
Bad news, the further infiltration/bastardization of hi-fi with home theater. At some level, I want hi-fi to remain its own thing, not be "integrated" with the mainstream. If we do that, well, then we may as well all be Sumiko/SME, B&W, or Krell with static displays and new models each year (no offense).
I know, I know, Sutton's Law and all, but are we Garland Jeffreys or are we Brittany Spears?
I say, "Fewer promotional Hummers (the vehicles) and more dedicated hi-fi enthusiasts."
As I re-read this before posting, I decided: Please read this using Napoleon Dynamite's voice. Be sure to add "Shuh" at the end of every other paragraph.
