According to AudioQuest's Bill Low, this fraudulent video was not prepared by anyone who had any connection with AudioQuest. See his open letter and the many comments at www.stereophile.com/content/open-letter-bill-low-audioquest. So no, they were not "caught red-handed" - the situation was a lot more complicated than that.

Sabotage? JA
Someone is just a teeny bit slow on the uptake. I won't name names.

anyone who spends a thousand dollars on an HDMI cord is going to have some explaining to do when he goes to meet his maker.
Heck, that's nothin'. If that gives you heartburn the new $24K interconnects from Taralabs will probably induce a brain aneurism.

but for what it's worth.....
My system is crappy laptop > AudioQuest Coffee USB > Schiit Wyrd > Shunyata Research Venom USB > Schiit Bifrost Multibit > AudioQuest Sky RCA > NAD T757 receiver. Prior to the high-end Sky's (silver wire) I had a pair of AQ Black Mamba II's (copper) in there. One day my grandmother (who was married to an organist/organbuilder and who is therefore very opinionated about how they sound) stopped by to hear my setup. She had never heard an audiophile quality system like mine (KEF Q900's and SVS PB-1000's) and out of curiosity I swapped back to the Mambas to see if she could detect any difference. I believe her exact words were "Hey! What'd you do?! It sounds flat! Put it back the way it was! Don't change it!" I couldn't believe someone in her 80's with no listening experience could hear the difference that quickly, but she did.
Whether AQ is diddling with their digital stuff or not, I don't know. But I do know there's something to be said for their analog......
