I'm currently searching for a AMP/Crossover (???) to drive a sub.
The sub is a car woofer I bought when I was 19. I used it for a couple weeks. Otherwise it's been sitting for years.
It's a MTX Thunder 8000 DVC 4ohm 12" I put it in a box and plugged it in and of course it sound great. Wired it up in series and ran it through a old JVC crossover. I'd use it, however, it doesn't drown out mid/high very well.
My next step is go find a crossover and AMP to drive it.
I was going to buy a Sub, however, I enjoy getting my hands dirty too. I have all the equipment to achieve this project in a professional fashion.
My goal is to find a decent 4ohm HOME amp I can run and a decent mono crossover that I can mount in the box.
I've designed and built a few sub boxes in my day (I've never bought one for my car when I was younger.) But I"m not too familiar /w home subs as much.
My main speakers are DMC KX-212. They are loud. But they lack bass. Turning it up a bit over half makes my ears ring. Sound quality is decent. I wouldn't say it's excellent but with some good bass behind it, it'll be at least good.
I'd appriciate any advice on AMP/Crossover and any box designs for this build.
AMP - 200x2 4ohm would be ideal. The sub is capable of handling that. I think it's 500Watt sub.
I have my AMP's plugged into my Computer and I have a slot for SUB. However, I also have a sub out on my JVC Deck.
Also any suggestions on a good material for anti-magnet shields. The magnet is 102oz I believe.
Thanks
