Hello!

I am very new to stereo equipment and vinyl and was looking for some advice.

I received a Technics SL-Q303 for the holidays and am looking for the best vinyl setup I can get for around $1000.

I've read a lot of reviews and have to admit to being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choices available. I am also not sure how to properly allocate my budget. Will more expensive speakers with a cheaper amp yield a better experience than the opposite?

Right now the only thing I'm somewhat sure on is that I'm deciding between the ELAC Debut B6 and KEF Q100 bookshelf speakers. It seems I may have missed a sale on the B6s so I'm leaning towards ordering the Q100s.

Aside from that I have no idea what to do for the rest. I'm assuming I also need a pre-amp, amp/receiver, some floor stands for the speakers and a decent cartridge. As far as amps go I've done some reading on the:

  • Marantz PM6006
  • Music Hall 15.3
  • NAD C316BEE
  • Cambridge Audio CXA60

These are all different prices and if anyone has experience with these I'd love to hear how you like it.

I plan on listening to pretty standard stuff: jazz, classical and some classic rock. The room is also 12x13 feet and I'll be ~10 feet from the speakers.

Thank you in advance for any advice and if I need to give more information let me know.
