Saddened to hear that veteran speaker designer Brian Cheney of VMPS has passed away. His speakers were idiosyncratic in design but always musically enjoyable - see one of our VMPS reviews at www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/588vmps/index.html - and back in the 1980s Brian contributed a spoof review to Stereophile of his newly acquired Yamaha grand piano as though it were an audio component.

In recent years, Brian had been organizing live vs recorded dems at THE Shows - see, for example, www.stereophile.com/ces2010/live_ivsi_recorded_with_vmps/index.html and www.stereophile.com/ces2009/now_thats_what_i_call_music/index.html.

Sad news. Our condolences to Brian's family.
