Very interesting.
It will be fun to learn how it handles edits (transcode part of the file, transcode the entire file), etc.
Will this device let me archive my pre-recorded manufacturer's open reel tape collection to DVD-R at 24/192 or the equivalent? I don't want to have to compress the recording to 16 bit to play back (even though my playback equipment will "expand" 16 bit to 24/192.
I don't know much about recording--but I want to dub all those tapes to 24/192 quality digital that I'll be able to play back as dvd-a on my playback equipment before all my tapes turn to dust!
Thanks for any help you can provide me!
it isnt a device, but a computer app..
the Tascam DVRA1000 HD is what you want. does 24/192 , backs up to HDD AND DVD, and does DSD as well.
Fantastic machine.
There is also the Sound Devices 722(which I think mirrors to an external DVD drive now) but it is twice as expensive. it also does flac.
