Ive been building and learning for a while. Building a system is obviously a long and occasionally frustrating experience, i have heard enough though to know that the end will be worthwhile.
I think ive finally figured the ideal sound, im using a full set of Quad electronics with Quad 22 floor standers. The sound is very good, the thing that im missing to get to my ultimate sound is scale.
The sound itself is fine, the tone, attack etc of the speakers are great, there is good if a little bloomy bass.
The thing that the system doesnt do is fill the room with sound, ive tried a good surround and that fails because you lose the quality of stereo components.
Ive got a feeling that the answer is a lot of very expensive electronics and high end speakers, anyone got any thoughts on speakers that could achieve the sound im looking for ? budget is around $2-3k, used or new.
Ive thought of Klipschorns but after listening to them they are just to harsh on less than perfect recordings.
Models im thinking of are Dali 400/800, or Von Schweikert VR4's. Anyone got any suggestions.
