Yes, your cartridge and phono preamp are not really on a par with the rest of your system. There is a lot of room for improvement.
My suggestions would be to get the Ortophon 2M Blue cartridge and the Musical Fidelity V90-LPS phono preamp.
That will be a very significant improvement for only a few hundred dollars (or shekels, or whatever...lol).
The Ortofon 2M Blue is great and matches very well with Pro-Ject. The MF V-90 is wonderful. Musical fidelity makes great equipment. I went in a different direction with my phono stage but that was very good.
You might want to look at a Vincent Pho-8 phono stage. The outboard power supply is particularly quiet and it is built like a tank. Detailed with a great noise filter.
I just upgrade from mine which I ran in my system for 3 years and had to spend a LOT more to get a better phono stage. I can’t say enough good things about the Pho-8.
