Hi,

I have recently have dived into the world of hifi and have a little bit extra money left over and was wondering what the general consensus would be on the best upgrades for my current system. The room is already treated. My thought's are that the cart/stylus and phono stage are probably the weak points of the system currently. Would be great to hear some thoughts

Dynaudio Emit M20s on Dynaudio Stand 3X Speaker Stands
Myryad Z240 Integrated Amp
Myryad Z20 DAC
Pro-Ject Debut Carbon w/ Ortofon OM10
Pro-Ject Phono Box E

Cheers

Yes, your cartridge and phono preamp are not really on a par with the rest of your system. There is a lot of room for improvement.

My suggestions would be to get the Ortophon 2M Blue cartridge and the Musical Fidelity V90-LPS phono preamp.

That will be a very significant improvement for only a few hundred dollars (or shekels, or whatever...lol).

The Ortofon 2M Blue is great and matches very well with Pro-Ject. The MF V-90 is wonderful. Musical fidelity makes great equipment. I went in a different direction with my phono stage but that was very good.

You might want to look at a Vincent Pho-8 phono stage. The outboard power supply is particularly quiet and it is built like a tank. Detailed with a great noise filter.

I just upgrade from mine which I ran in my system for 3 years and had to spend a LOT more to get a better phono stage. I can’t say enough good things about the Pho-8.

You can find the phono stages used for about 1/3 off on Audiogon or eBay.
