That said, I would suggest a classic lifestyle headphone such as Sennheiser Momentum, PSB M4U, HP-50 etc. Many headphones in that price range will be ear-bleeding with metal and other -core music. I personally prefer a single-piece music player such as iPhone, or a decent PMP like the FiiO X7 etc. Adding a good DAC to a phone is compelling, and it sounds great, but is inconvenient for portable use. Don't forget too that the fidelity you're spending for will get lost - the finer details etc. - in a noisy environment, so good isolation helps.
