The Cambridge isn’t exactly bright but it is definitely not warm. The MA Bronzes are very good but they are forward leaning toward bright. Combined together, they might produce a fatiguing sound.

Music Direct has Wharfedale speakers on sale right now. They are definitely warm and will offer a nice contrast to the Cambridge. I would give them a call and ask their POV on whether the Diamond 10.7 (older model) or the Diamond 240s are better. Both should be in your price range.

Hi, thanks for your input. Unfortunately I am in Portugal and need to buy those speakers near me. I'll try to find those Wharfedale Diamond 10.7 but seems that only have the new models... any advice for these new models?
And about other brands? What could be the best match for my CXA60?

Thanks

I have no idea what pricing will look like in Portugal. Check out the Cambridge Aero line and Rega’s. They will pair vert well as will Wharfedale’s.

My suggestion would be to look into the Focal speaker lineup; they make excellent speakers which should work well with your amplifier.

The Focal 714 might be a good choice, although they are more expensive than the Wharfedale 10.7 or Diamond 250, which are very good for the money.

Focal prices may be relatively lower in Portugal than in the USA, however, since the company is based in France.

Guys,

Thank you for your inputs about Rega's or Cambridge Aero but I don't like very much the reviews I read and Focal ones I can't get them here in Portugal, so I have to try another options...

As I can't listen other speakers with my amp, I tried to get some info with several shops, unfortunately far from home and these are the options that they offer me:

1- Q Acoustic 3050i
2- Wharfedale Diamond 240
3- Monitor Audio Bronze 5

I have a room with 7 x 4 meters but use the Hi-fi equipment in the width of the room, so I use only half the room... and have a Rega P3 turntable with a Goldring 1042 cartridge, a Rega phono stage "Fono MM Mk2", a Cambridge CXA60 amp and I ear jazz music, and the greats from the 70/80 years as Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Queen,...

Right now, with my old Boose 4.2 Series II speakers, I have a very harsh and unpleasant sound so I thought that maybe it is a problem of the speakers and I am trying to find solutions to replace them... although with my old CD player the sound is not bad at all... don't understand why I can't get the same sound with the Rega's TT :(

What do you think about the "marriage" of my Cambridge CXA60 amp and these speakers, saying that I have afraid to continue with bright, harsh and shrillness sound?

Any other solution?

Thanks ;)

I like the Wharfedale's better than the MA Bronzes. I have no POV on Q and have no idea what they sound like.

Hy again,

Thank you for all your inputs helping me choose the best floorstanding speakers that I can afford to match my Cambridge CXA60.

A few days ago I did a test with the Master Audio Bronze 5 speakers but I was not satisfied with the overall sound. They are better than my previous Bose 4.2, especially in medium frequencies, but I noticed here and there some "bright" sounds that hurt my ears... so have to try others.

Later I had a chance to try the Wharfedale Diamond 240 and at first sight they were huge, but two or three days later they were OK :) and the sound was and is great. Much more bass than the MA5, the middle is OK and the high frequencies do not hurt anymore.

I bought them ;)

Thanks!
