I have just purchased a new Arcam P49 power amplifier from a UK retailer. As it was a store demo and I was able to deduct VAT, I got a fantastic deal. I've connected this to my Rega Elicit-R amplifier, which I'm using as a pre-amp, to drive a pair of KEF Q900s. The combination sounds really amazing. But when the Rega is set to 12 o'clock or higher, the P49 shuts off automatically.

Could somebody please explain to me why this is happening? Is there some type of gain mismatch going on? The retailer is now suggesting I buy a step down attenuator. Or did the retailer just send me a dud P49?

Thanks for helping me understand what's going on.

hi
all

my question is in peoples opion what would be the very best amp receiver to use with the dali zensor speakers

I want to do 11.2 with the vey latest up to date features with atmos dts x auro 3d I want the very best sound quality for what the dali zensor speakers are capable of doing thanks

I would recommend the NAD T787, or the Cambridge Audio 751R.

For best sound quality with those speakers, I would NOT recommend atmos.
It is a gimmick that does not enhance the sound quality at all.

Design a good 7.1 setup with careful attention to room acoustics, and forget the additional channels which add nothing and muddy the sound terribly in most cases.

It is silly to buy those high-definition speakers and then muck up the sound with too much noise from too many channels.

If you are doing surround for home theater and not willing to go AV separates I would highly recommend the Rotel RAP 1580 av receiver. This is Rotel's flagship av receiver. Although Rotel does not call it av receiver due to lack of built-in radio AM/FM tuner but it is basically an av receiver without built-in radio AM/FM tuner.

The NAD T787 receiver is also very good. You can never go wrong with either one. They both are musical sounding and good for listening to 2ch music especially coming from an AV receiver.

Another av receiver I would look at is Arcam.
