I remember JA (I think) explaining the review process in Stereophile. One main condition for a component to get a review was to have at least four (or was it five ?) distributors in the US.
Now let us fast forward to the rave review of the Caliburn turntable: "Approximate Number Of Dealers: None. Sold direct by importer".
How does this fit in the standard review policy of Stereophile ? Does costing 90,000 USD provide a "license to kill" that bypasses any stated editorial policy ?
BTW, JA wrote about "Dog Legs and Feet: the Marginalization of High-End Audio" - well, keep reviewing 90,000 USD turntables with no US support and you'll understand (I hope !) why high-end audio is not "hot" among the new generation...
Good luck !
