Are no cables better than high end cables?

Someone I know called last night to say, "I'm beginning to agree with you that no cables are better than high end cables (my note: you know, as I've been touting the advantages of going completely portable with earphones, in one fell swoop eliminating not only transformers, fuses, capacitors, wiring, AC power, but also interconnects, power cords and even speaker cables if you accept the fact that earphone cables are not really the same thing as speaker cables) as I just received my new Devialet integrated and have had a chance to play around with it for a few days. The Devialet sounds really really good, it's Class A and the interesting thing of all the various types of outputs on the Devialet the best sounding one by far is the Wi Fi. (I.e., high frequency/wide bandwidth, no cables are used for this mode of operation.)"

Is it a case of lower mass? I think not. Like the transformers it's a case of eliminating the influence of the cables' self-generated magnetic field on the audio signal which is analogous to shooting oneself in the foot. And other deleterious effects one would expect from crystalline structures that are susceptible to a number of external forces.

Must have something to do with the way the data is transmitted between the source and the Devialet, you know, some kind of super noise and RFI immunity, perhaps....uh, spread spectrum. Hmmmmm....

Addendum

Addendum:

"The second best source for the Devialet is the RCA digital input for which I use a VERY GOOD cable that goes for $4.5k. The WiFI still beat it!"
