My advice is to not flog a dead horse.
IMO you would be much better off buying a Music Hall MMF-2.2 turntable.
Your old turntable will never sound as good, and you may have a hard time satisfactorily rehabilitating the old one.
The spindle and arm bearings may have significant wear, and there is not much you can do about it.
I personally love AR tables, and if you find the right guy to work on it, you will have one heck of a musical beast. But finding that right guy is the key because a lot of guys ruin these table by applying things that don't work well and end up making the table dull and boring which is the opposite from the original intent.
So first I would search for a specialist in that particular model. I still make stands for them but don't get involved in restoring any more, but if you have the right table you could be sitting on gold.
If you would like to send me a pic you can look me up on http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/ and I'd be happy to at least take a look.
but
As the above post states there are some nice tables available for reasonable prices these days. There's no way I would get one without hearing it first but that's always the risk.
Good move on the wall mount, be carefull on that maple thickness as it's not hard to create a pitch problem with maple. Also be careful with the types of spikes used. AR's are very transfer sensitive. They can be one of the best sounding tables ever if you get the right combo of woods and transfers, but if you treat it like a dead table don't bother, it will go way pitchy on you. My advice is, if your going to go with a live table restore, if a dead table buy new. If you buy one from Roy, tell him Harold and Michael said hi.
good luck
