I am refurbishing a 1984 The Turntable by AR. I am the original owner and it is stock with a Jelco tonearm. Mostly it has been in storage the past 20 years. It has an inexpensive 20 year old AT cartridge, model unknown. Everything seems to be functioning although the cueing lever is slow.
I plan on:
1) installing a NOS Acutex M312 III STR cartridge
2) replacing the belt
3) adding steel spikes to the plinth/base
4) adding a Way Excellent II 2mm mat
5) placing on a 3 inch maple block mounted to the wall
I need advice on:
1) lubricating the bearings
2) suspension springs
3) dampening the chassis and motor
4) adding mass to the plinth/base and platter
5) tonearm dampening
6) cost effective tweaks
I am not planning on completely overhauling the turntable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
