Anyone knowledgeable on Lyra?

Tonight I picked up a second hand sondek which came equipped with an unused or minimally used, according to the seller, Lyra Lydian cartridge. My research on the Google box provides lots about the Lydian beta which went for around a grand in the mid nineties but not much on a straight "Lydian". There appears to be a physical difference between the two, the beta being "naked" and my cartridge providing a more substantial housing. I will provide pictures tomorrow to illustrate my description.

As I can only find reviews and specs online for the beta, I'm curious if anyone is familiar with the cartridge I may have and can educate me on its specifications, fair market value and sonic characteristics vs the more commonplace beta variety.

Despite my ignorance on the cartridge i think I made a good purchase and would welcome feed back on that as well as I invest in my analog end. Lp12 serial 77*** with lingo upgrade, lid, aforesaid cartridge, and ittok lvii TA for $1900.

Really appreciate the feedback guys and gals.

Best,

Dan

www.soundstage.com has a long article/review on that cartridge from 2000. There is quite a lot of info there.

Thanks for the article Commys

Thanks for the article Commys.
I've read the article you posted a bit back. That review is for the beta variety which aesthetically looks a bit different than the Lydian I have. That was really my question from the get go. My Lydian has a grander inclusion than the beta which makes me wonder if it is a different cartridge altogether with different specs and sound characteristics, of if simple as something like a mk ii.

Sorry for not posting pics tonight. I got carried away cleaning and polishing the new table. I'll juxtapose the two cartridges tomorrow.
