I like Diana Krall, but her Love Scenes disc has an annoying characteristic that makes me curious as to what is going on.

I'm thinking this might be some sort of mic issue or layering of her vocals on top of the band. Anyway, there seems to be a disconnect between the music and her vocals just as she begins to sing. This happens all over the disc and isn't limited to the beginning of her entrance. It's as if you can hear the mic being turned on right before her vocals or the tape hiss as it's layered over the band. The sound has a sudden start and stop quality to do with the vocals.

If this makes any sense, what's going on?
