Advice on Portable Hi-Res Player

Hey Larry, i've looked at the Fiio players myself before and wondered how good they are.

All the advice I can offer is that I have the Fiio Q1 USB DAC / Amp and I use that connected to my phone with a USB OTG cable. If you can put up with 2 units plus cable I can recommend the quality and volume the Q1 provides.

It has no problem driving my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones and they are the 80ohm version.

I went this route as it was a cheaper option than the standalone Fiio players............

Appreciate the advice. Was also considering them just for the fact that I miss a dedicated player. I've never really messed with an amp before.

I'm honestly considering spending that money i was planning on the Fiio on new headphones and an amp anyway.

I have an older HiFiMan PMP and still use it regularly, but there are newer models now if you can increase your budget:
