Hello, One of my old Advent Legacy II Speakers is emitting distortion noise, specifically with the bass sounds. I thought is was the cd I was playing but it makes the same sound with all my cd's, lp's, blu rays, etc... Someone at work suggested checking/ repairing it myself but I wouldnt know where to begin. We bought our stereo system around 1989 and never had issues with it other than the cd player. The receiver I have is a Sony Str AV710, Turntable is : Technics SL QD 33, Audio Technica AT 231 lp stylus.

I would like assistance in recommending new flr speakers that would be comparable to the Advent Legacy II speakers. Here is additional information to help with my speaker recommendations: My budget is $1500 US dollars, I will be mainly listening to classical, older pop standards, country and 50's 60's rock. My living room meassures 12 x 15. The power rating from the receiver is 55 watts per channel into 8 ohms, signal to noise ratio 74db (mm) 100db (line) for all the audiophile experts out there :) The sound from my Advent Legacy II speakers on my receiver was perfectly fine with me so I am looking for a similar sound from the new speakers. A co worker did suggest a pair of Polk TSi 400 speakers but I only briefly did a search on the brand.

Any help from this forum would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
