Green Mountain Audio Diamante loudspeaker Manufacturer's Comment

I live in a house that has a pyramid-shaped roof, so I guess you could say that I have a thing for pyramids (footnote 1). That's probably why I was immediately drawn to the Green Mountain Audio Diamante. I'm also attracted to floorstanding speakers with small footprints, since my listening/video room is only 13' by 16'. My Holy Grail of loudspeakers is a small speaker that's flat between 20Hz and 20kHz, can do 110dB sound-pressure–levels without straining, and costs less than $1000/pair.

"What I Mean..." (review terminology)

As you may have noticed, Stereophile's approach to equipment testing is quite different from that of "mainstream" audio publications. Instead of throwing a bunch of measurements at you, and telling you how we think components ought to sound because of those measurements, we test them as you would: by listening. But we have an extra problem: we have to convey to someone else—you—a feeling for what we hear from that component. It ain't always easy.

musical fidelity

Just bought both the 3.5 amp and cd player. Would it be advisable to purchase the x-10v3 in between?

Magnepan 1.5s....now what??

I picked up a pair of magnepan 1.5s from an audiophile friend who has since went on to meet the great audiophile in the sky. I know that he has entrusted me with these beasts because I would do right by them. The only amp that I currently have is a adcom 3500 and it barely pushes enough juice for one of these bad boys. I currently have some surround sound klipsch's that I use for my home theater so I want to add these guys in as pure music enjoyment. I would greatly appreciate some imput on what would set em off.

Recommendation for software to create a cd-r from a dvd

I have found that there are numerous dvds being released of shows that are not available in an artist's cd catalog. As an example, I recently purchased the 30th Anniversary Edition of the Boss' Born to Run. It contains a dvd of a show he and the band did in London in 1975. The show and the sound of the dvd are fantastic and there is nothing like it in his cd catalog. I wanted to play the music from the dvd in my car and two channel system so I looked for software to take just the audio from the dvd. I found a program called DVD Audio Extractor.
