More Vinyl Lovers

Is it just my perception, or do people who are looking through bins of LPs have a kind of happy excitement about them? The vinyl-buying folks at SSI sure seemed to be a really happy lot. Selecting CDs seems to be a much more matter-or-fact endeavor. And I can't imagine anyone getting too excited about the act of buying a new hard drive for their music server.

I agree 100%!"Rummaging around in old shelves of LPs is one of the few things that makes life worth living, as far as I'm concerned." from "Chance Traveler" in Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami

It's not just the vinyl; it's also the album cover. Even when there's only one record in the album, it's a wonderful feeling to open up that gatefold jacket and soak up all that wonderful information. You simply can't get that out of a CD jewel case.

It is a scavenger hunter turned to a treasure hunt. No matter what you are looking for if anything, you always find a memory that you had tucked away in the back of your mind. An its only 8.00

I was talking to Lionel Goodfield of Simaudio and Mike Manousselis of Dynaudio about this, and we all agreed that one of the best things about shopping for vinyl is never knowing what treasure you're going to discover.
