Attention all you amateur speaker designers furiously creating the world's next revolutionary crossover or cabinet design in your garage: Meniscus Audio, a manufacturer of loudspeakers that sells directly to consumers through mail-order marketing programs, has announced a loudspeaker design contest that offers the winner the opportunity to have his or her design developed for distribution as a kit. First- and second-place prizes will also be awarded.

Entrants are invited to submit designs for any variety of passive loudspeaker weighing not more than 150 lbs. Entries should include a working model of the speaker, a schematic of the crossover, and a drawing of the cabinet. According to Meniscus, designs will be judged on the basis of quality and performance. Entrants may not be employed by or affiliated with a speaker company.

The deadline for submitting entries is April 2, 1998, with winners to be announced in May.
