Leland Leard of Music Hall is a pair of spectacles the color of Jenny Lewis' dress. My eyes grew large and happy when I saw the Watson Twins vinyl propped up beside White Stripes and Gnarls Barkley discs.

Jenny listened quietly as Leland and I discussed music, the way certain songs and certain albums enter your life at just the right time — like running through the rain in Seattle or driving through the mountains in California — when you're ready for them.
