The word from the beach... straight from BP's press office

I was just listening to a reporter... errr... reporting on trying to get to see what's happening on the beaches to clear up the oil pollution and who was turned back by the local sheriff's office saying that BP had to authorise all visitors to the beach because it was dangerous. Asked how dangerous only got the answer "you'll have to ask BP".
When asked for facts and figures EVERY source tells the reporter to contact BP and both local and national authorities are now giving BP's figures as fact without much in the way of checking.
If the beach is dangerous it is odd that those employed to clean it up (with hand rakes) are wearing no protective clothing?
It sounds like Tea Party heaven... BP keeping the government OUT!

Yes, it's crazy. No one is paying attention now.

I have some photographer friends who are livid about their lack of access.

What a tragedy. And the way it is being handled is enough to sour one on the govt. and the corporate at the same time.

This spill should be beyond politics, but of course it isn't

Hey, fuck you Oz. BP is one of your companies. BP treats their offshore rigs like third world countries. Thanks for nothing.

I wonder why we don't here about Haliburton's responsibility and or involvement any more?
BP is traded on the open market these days, kind of like KFC not only operating in Kentucky.

I did but then I read your post and realised I could never be rude enough to convey the reality of YOUR world.
Thanks for posting.
If you actually learned to read you'd figure your post is just more meaningless drivel.
Repeating lies may play well on the outskirts of your town but it doesn't cut the mustard anywhere else int he world.
If you are thinking of telling me how you "just don't care"... I just don't care what you "think".

why would you expect audio posting on a non-audio forum?

Oz

The reason we dont hear about Haliburton any more is because they were not responsible for what happened. The blame for this incident lies firmly with BP, which as you know is British Petroleum. This will more than likely destroy BP and lead to their takeover.

What good comes from a bunch of sensationalist media coverage ? Im sick and tired of bloody liberals and foreigners telling the US how to go about things. The US invented offshore drilling and are the world leaders by a mile, every other country in the world prospers from using US drilling rigs to find their oil, including Austalia.

So everyone get off their high horses, this was a shitty accident but all this bullshit attacks need to stop.

Re: The word from the beach... straight from BP's press office

What pisses me off about the spill is that we were offered help by other nations and we told them, "no". That is fucked up. People in the US are used to people shitting on us because we do most of the work on just about any international project but to turn down help for ourselves is not right as well.

As for the Duck. Isn't he in some fucked up European country that was occupied by the Nazis? Or rather some fucked up European country that "allowed" themselves to be occupied? Now, I want to throw the dice on whether it was the British or U.S. forces that ran the Nazis out of his country. Or whether or not the Duck's family was part of a collaborationist government at that time. I love throwing the Nazis into the face of today's Europe. It sticks like mud.

Now, what were we saying about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico?

Both the British and the U.S. forces ran the Nazis out of my country, but what has it to do with me? I wasn't born yet... Don't blame me for what any dickheads before my time did or did not do.

Excuse me for asking, but I don't understand your issue with the oily wave Keld posted. Seemed like pretty innocent satire to me.

Of course. I am just as sad over this, the worst oil spill ever, as anybody else. BP should pay billions of Dollars to the victims if you ask me.

Re: The word from the beach... straight from BP's press office

My issue is that i have worked on that rig and know people directly involved with this incident.

The oil industry takes a lot of stick from outside do gooder pussies and liberals who have no idea what is involved. They just assume oil magically appears.

When you know people who die in these incidents you dont see the fluffy side of Keld's jokes, you see an asshole making fun of your livelyhood and people you know.

So yes i might be sensitive to this issue as it is very close to home for me, but anyone who wants to make smartass comments can basically go fuck themselves on this particular issue.

No apologies and ill happily support an industry of hard working genuine people over the majority of the assholes who attack them.

Seemed to have struck a nerve... so, do you agree with the survivors who said BP intentionally decided to cut corners that led to those deaths you decry? The PR campaign BP's putting on now is a real touchy-feely masterpiece.

And yes, there is oil on all our hands. We live the consumer lifestyle that drives these markets. Sorry about your friends that were killed. They deserved better stewardship from BP.

I think we all care about the people, Welsh. I don't see the point of bringing industry to its knees for political ends, either. But everyone knows the stakes in these high risk jobs when people fuck up. That's why you get the big bucks, right?

Re: The word from the beach... straight from BP's press office

There is not a seconds doubt in my mind that BP are responsible. It was a calculated risk that the undried cement would hold the well, this risk was taken to save money. It backfired and now BP should be held responsible.

I do not in any way excuse BP for their action, they screwed up big time. BP does indeed stand for British Petroleum and BP have a terrible safety record, it was only a few yeasr ago they killed 14 people in Texas City due to confirmed negligence. In the Texas city disaster all deaths could have been avoided had even reasonably modern communication and safety equipment been in place.

BP screwed up, its not the US governments, its not the oil industry's fault, it's not offshore drilling's fault, its the corporate asshole at BP who laid out the instructions to move from the well before it was correctly cemented.

It seems very similar to the coal industry's accidents in our country, but without the same degree of consequence to the environment. But the human toll is certainly devastating to the affected families.

AMEN!! Thanks for saying that and Ditto on the Liberals aka Progressives. and by the way, if it weren't for the left-wing whacko environmentalists, we would not have to be depending on offshore oil drilling. We could explore and drill in North and South Dakota where oil reserves are plentiful. Thanks to Bill Clinton and his Sec. of Interior Bruce Babbitt they made N. and S. Dakota off limits to oil exploration. It was reported at the time that there was enough crude, shale, and natural gas to supply the U.S. for the next 100 years.

Basicallly, over the years we have been driven to the sea for oil exploration thanks to the "greenies".

what a sad sight the demise of American intellect is

Thanks for the example but it's still sad.
Do you subscribe directly to the Heritage Foundation or through one of their scam web-sites?
Sad sad sad.
To swear your allegiance to industry lobbyists, the same ones who promoted the tobacco industry for decades is really just the slightest bit pathetic.

Unlike the progressive socialist democrats... I subscribe to freedom and liberty. The Constitution. The same constitution the democrats are trashing on a daily basis.

Lobbyists? You must be talking about the same lobbyists that Obama said he would never put into his administration during the campaign... After he was elected, he nominated 9 lobbyists to key positions in the first two weeks in office.

But as I suspect it wasn't I sincerely hope you don't get your wish to follow your corporate feudalism to the grave.
America sure does seem to have a number of suckers just hanging on the next word they're told to believe and who don't have any faith in the abilities of their fellow Americans!
Sad but true.
Bye now and thanks for confirming my basic premise.
