Just wondering why the Musicstreamer(s) seem to have been overlooked in the latest Recommended Components listing. They have been well-received in Stereophile's pages and elsewhere (and reviewed by AD, as I recall) and God knows I love my Musicstreamer+...but nothing. Not even a "replaced by newer model" notation, which I take it they have been. Seems odd. So what's up?

Because they were discontinued before being eligible to be included in the listing.

As they were never listed, I didn't see the need to note why they weren't included. We do have a review planned of one of the new HRT models, BTW.

On a slightly different tack to what I mentioned for last months topic.
With the subtle changes or resurgence in some audio setups (DACs and digital amps, network streaming devices that may feed into either as their digital output is better, etc), does it make sense to consider recommending some products based on their digital outputs for connection into DACs and digital amps?
I find this interesting as a highly recommended CD player may not be ideal when used as a transport, while some network streaming devices may be better on digital rather than their analogue.
Maybe the uptake for now is too low to consider these setups for now, but would help those who are considering Nad M2s or comparable, DACs, Linn Digital Stream type players, etc.
Thanks
Orb
Great idea, especially as there may be some wonderfully clever ideas as well as great transport bargains out there.
