Troops Retreating From New Orleans

Guard to pull out of New Orleans after 3 1/2 years

http://apnews.myway.com//article/20090228/D96KA96O1.html

The insurgency in New Orleans after the great Katrina attack has resulted in a complete failure. Government unable to restore order in homeland. Troops being pulled out. New Orleans left to take of itself. Violence and crime continue. Infrastructure and workers left unprotected.

They should ask the Iraqi troops to come and help with peace keeping in New Orleans.

This occurred on the Republican watch. I'm waiting to see how you're going to shift blame to the Democrats.

I suggest all those who work for a living check your financial records for the past 12 years. Determine what years you did better financially and check who was in office at that time.
The so-called conservative Republicans have always been the ones who run up the national debt! This is fact and can be verified if you look around.

You're blaming a massive act of God on the Republicans? You just get better and better at this. It makes more sense to say something like Clinton was impeached on the Democrats watch. Or something like that.

Haven't you and all the other "conservatives" fu**ed up the country enough? We are in Iraq in a war only because of a personal vendetta that W had. The economy is in the toilet mostly because of so called conservatives. And what do you want to do? Lower taxes on those who can most afford to pay. If you are a ordinary working stiff I suggest you check your financial records for the past 10 years.
If you did better financially when Republicans were in the White House you are probably not a person who works for a living.
All that conservative nonsense is just fine. Remember, 75% of all the national debt this country has ever accrued has occurred when Republicans were in control. 90% of that has come when the 2 Bush's were in office. What kind of fiscal responsibility does that show.
Sure conservatives did their best to impeach "Wild Bill" out of office. What you wont talk about is the lack of any national debt when Clinton left office. Personally I would rather have a president "porking" females in his office. Republicans who are so pure and straitlaced get caught passing notes under the walls of public toilet stalls to members of their own sex. They then claim they were entrapped. Your loudest most strident voice is a drug addict who takes boatloads of Viagra to Central America for, guess what.
And while we are at it; what's with all the name calling? Is it just sour grapes? We so called liberals don't do all that name calling. You conservatives seem to have a monopoly on that.
Lighten up give the current president and administration a chance to clean up what you "conservatives" messed up.
I realize you didn't vote for Obama. Grow up and act like an adult and cut out the childish name calling.
You are acting just like a spoiled child who can't have his way.

The response was that the conservative government acted slowly and poorly. I do have to give them credit for admitting so and apologizing for it. However, the damage was done by then.

The last resort of those who have nothing to support what they say is to cast aspersions on others. Ownership of a Blackberry is not relevant to this discourse. BTW I do not own one.

You steadfastly refuse to admit the worst crisis in this country since the great depression is MOSTLY the fault of Republicans. Stop acting like a spoiled brat. Fess' up. "W" and all those who helped him, screwed up real bad. I know it, you know it and the rest of the world knows it.

Deflection is no excuse for running out of substance let alone your illiteracy. You did take PSY101? Remember the part about ego defense mechanisms? You should review that part again.

You might as well resign to the fact that liberals are going to get back what they metered out over that last 8 years. It won't even pale in comparison. During that years 8 years conservatives let the liberals set the standard for what sedition does not incorporate. The dark side of the moon will do everything in its power to make sure your messiah fails. What goes around comes around. And its been a wonderful 5 months of scandals and resignations just for a start. Crazy rails.

Re: Troops Retreating From New Orleans

You poor, poor soul. I was wondering when you would pull out the religion argument. You guys just can't take a loss like a man. Everyone knows that the only reason the Republican party sucked up to the religious right was to get into power. The snake handlers and and other radical Christians were dropped and ignored as soon as your "hero's" got into office.
So please leave out the religious suggestions. Republicans would have teamed up with Hamster worshipers if they thought it would get them into office.
What was that about ego defense mechanisms? Is that anything like publishing pictures of your gun?
I'm not deflecting anything. You are the one who is name calling and bringing in religion.
When you have nothing intelligent to say you resort to name calling and outright lies. Although I think that "W" will go down as the worst president we've ever had I have enough manners and self respect not to resort to name calling because I can't have my way. It sounds like someone other than me is practicing that old deflection thing. You did pass that course didn't you? It seems you learned a little something! What's the matter? Didn't you get over your freshman year.

Calling me illiterate is just more name calling. I suggest you look up the definition of the word. I could hardly be considered "unable to read or write". That's what illiterate means. Once again when confronted with truth you resort to name calling.
You are the one that seems to have an inability to express yourself in a calm intelligent manner. You can attach whatever label applies to that description.

The one where you called Katrina a massive act of God, that's the one I'm talking about. That sounds like some of that Christian fundamentalist nonsense. I shouldn't be surprised, since the Republican party sucked up to the religious right to get their votes. Is that how they got your vote?
The Republican party dropped them like a hot potato as soon as the election was over. Is that why you're so angry? Could it be that you consider all the partying in "The Big Easy" evil? Or, could it be you're angry because 15 year old juveniles aren't allowed to drink?

Actually..it WAS.

Look it up.

Necons allowed a bullshit company to take over the making of the disaster plans THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PLACE..all over a bit of money grubbing, pocket greasing and insider games.

The money was paid for the work...but no disaster books/plans where in place.

The old ones where REMOVED.

No! I don't believe in any religion. When an insurance company calls something an act of God it just means they don't want to pay. Are you suggesting you're an insurance salesman now. If so, my opinion of you just went even lower.

Just the mention of the word, "God" makes your skin crawl? Why should an insurance company pay for something for an act of god? The insured signed on the dotted line. At least you're not still on the "religion" argument now. BTW, why should I have to pay off my house at the full rate and today The Chancellor announced that 9 million people will get reduced monthly payments on their mortgages for houses they couldn't afford when they moved in with no down payment? That isn't an act of god. That is an act of lowering the value of my own home by an ideology that stupid people and quasi-government organizations should get a break that will cost us for the next generation. Remember, once the National Socialist Party came into full power all organizations became quasi-government organizations. Heil Obama.

You still won't admit that the present economic crisis is primarily the result of Republican mismanagement and flat out greed by their cronies.
My not liking any religion has nothing to do with my skin crawling. The overabundance of mentally deficient and just plain crazies make my skin crawl. I think I have an itch right now.
Christian fundamentalists call just about anything an act of "God". Insurance companies use this as an excuse not to pay claims.
Making you pay full payment is you getting your just deserts. Your home was probably overvalued anyway. Welcome to your worst nightmare. I'm loving it.
What makes it so delicious is that all you can do is snuggle up with your gun, suck your thumb and hope your supply of Benzoyl Peroxide doesn't run out!
Me, I'm going to have a beer snuggle up with the beautiful Judy and play some romantic music. One more thing, my house is paid for.

Re: Troops Retreating From New Orleans

You know JoeE, if I thought you had the basics of economics under you belt I would get into this argument with you. You seem to think economic cycles are based on who is in office. Example, you're under the assumption that the levees broke during a Republican Administration without even commenting that the levees were constructed under two Democratic Adminstrations. Example, New Orleans was flooded in 1947 by a hurricane and the after the storm, hurricane-protection levees were built along Lake Pontchartrain's south shore to protect the city. In 1965, Hurrican Betsy had a 10 foot storm surge in New Orleans and again the city was flooded. It was this time that the levees encircling the city and outlying parishes were raised to heights of 14 to 23 feet. To save costs the levees were built for Category 3 hurricanes. Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 and the levees held. Katrina quickly reduced to Category 3 upon landfall and that was when the levees started to give way. So, we have two Democratic Administrations building the levees and a Republican Administration that had the misfortune of being blamed for the whole thing. As you can see, risks were taken like an insurance company against acts of god, and there was nothing anybody could have done any different in such a short time span after Bush was elected to make sure this didn't happen. Based on your ideology of blame you have two periods when a Democrat was president during the construction of the levees to build them to withstand maximum force but didn't to save money. The bottom line is the levees were not constructed correctly for the City of New Orleans. Nobody is blameless. Including the State of Louisiana and the City of New Orleans. We still live in a Republic; i.e. local governments are responsible for disaster preparedness and FEMA provides support and funding to those local governments that comply with their requirements. No different than the federal government passing a law suggesting that state governments set a speed limit. Failure by a state to abide by that law will result in that state losing funding for such things like state highways.

Economic decisions by presidents of the past due eventually have economic consequences in the future. For example, Carter stopped any new gasoline processing plants decades ago. That ended up with supply not meeting demand decades later and the markets exploiting like any market does. You can't discuss economic trends based only who was president last time. In fact, the government, until lately, played a minor role in economics for the most part. A president need only have an understanding of micro and macro economics 101 to be President. This time though it was actually Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that was abused by the government that led to the housing crisis and created the domino effect we are seeing today. This abuse occurred across party lines. It had been going on for quite some time and the worse of it occurred during a Democratic controlled House and Senate since you prefer that line of approach. You do remember Barnie Frank (D) stating that Fanny Mae was doing just fine a couple of years ago? You also seem to be under the assumption that it is the responsibility of the government to repair economics at any cost. When left alone the invisible hand of supply and demand will take care of itself. Can you state who came up with that theory?

I would also advise you to consider that government, in general, is extremely nonproductive and we shouldn't put too much faith in their hands to fix problems for us. As for political parties it would be foolish to place blame on them. Political parties are just that. They are not the government. The Republican Party is not a government entity. It is an organization of ideology that strives to lead the country no different than Democrats. In that aspect I am very critical. But I make sure and do a little homework before posting incoherent talking points you read or heard someplace. You are not a very well read person. In fact, you are borderline ignorant. You know just enough to be dangerous not only to yourself but to others as well.

P.S. I'm glad to hear your house is paid for. Now, you can help out by helping some dumbass that got into a mortgage he couldn't afford. It will cost you about 30 grand in the long run. It's the patriotic thing to do. Right?

Re: Troops Retreating From New Orleans

You have a severe case of myopia caused by your slavish adherence to the policies of the Republican party. I need neither history lessons or economic lessons. I have experienced history personally. While getting my masters degree recent and current economics were some of the things I was required to study.
I do not can not and will not subscribe to policies that claim to benefit all but in reality benefit only those who already have a disproportionately large share of the pie. I am not a socialist or communist. However, policies that benefit those who already have at the expense of those who have not is morally repugnant to me.
Warren Buffett has said that the rich do not pay a fair share. I heard this myself on the evening news. Easing taxes on the rich benefits only the rich. That you don't agree with this is a given. Pissing moaning and acting like a spoiled brat is not productive in any way. Using foul language and comparing the President and the current administration to "Nazi's" only makes everyone place you in the "wing nut" category. I have lived in Europe and have visited the fields of bones that resulted from the Holocaust. The stench of death and rotting bodies was still present.
If you want people to listen to and consider your views do or say something constructive and productive. The loads of vitriolic hate speech you have been spouting don't help your cause. The fact is, your constant invective only serves to dissuade others.
When W was still in office liberals didn't come close to the kind of vitriol you and the other "ditto heads" have been shouting. That alone shows that liberals are at the very least morally and ethically superior. When I was in the military and complained we were told "soldier, shut up and soldier". You should follow that advice. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.

You and the other "ditto heads" forget that when Clinton left office there was a budget surplus. W and and his administration are the ones primarily responsible for the current economic situation. Most of the world thinks so and I agree with them.
Frankly, I never imagined that a bunch of adults would start acting like a bunch of spoiled crybabies over a change in administrations. You and your ilk are sickening. My comparison of you to a spoiled, acne prone, loser who sleeps with a gun instead of a woman is appearing more accurate with every word you continue to spout.

I considered putting you on my ignore list but decided not to. Those of us who care about ethics and morals need to monitor those like you who constantly and continuously spout hate. The Nazi's came to power because righteous people ignored them until it was too late. That error will not happen here if I can do anything about it.

You had your chance and was presented with a set of facts based on your own methods and ideology. In response, you have chosen, as I correctly pointed out, to resort to pathetic and misguided talking points you have picked up some place over the last 8 years in the form of devil-may-care ego defense mechanisms. You have become the interrogated. You have become a victim of the type of non-torture used to extract information, or as in your case a lack thereof, to evaluate your worth at the table. Troll you along to see what it is like to be in your shoes and then present a docket of facts to elicit an expected response. Your friends here can't help you now. Another subjective comment with nothing to back it up. Except for the quote. I guess that is an attempt at proving your point? I don't get it, Joey. The quote is basically what you posted just before it. I'm going to assume that what you mean is best stated in one coherent sentence than what you weren't able to do in three sentences and just got things mixed up because you are ignorant and misinformed. And you didn't even give her the respect to quote her correctly.

Quote:
They love little babies as long as they're in somebody else's uterus rather than caring about children after they're born.

She also stated:

We teach teenagers what to do in the front seat of cars, and now should teach them what to do in the backseats

-- Dr. Joycelyn Elders, Surgeon General

So, what do you think, Joey? Are "they" Republicans or anti-abortionists? You started out beating up Republicans and switched to anti-abortionists.

Also, Elders only served 18 months as the Surgeon General and was censured by the Clinton Administration for suggesting the legalization of drugs would reduce crime rates. Think about that for a moment? Legalization of drugs would surely reduce the number of drug related arrests. Not long after she was censured her gay 18 year old son was arrested for possession of cocaine.

She was fired by Clinton (Democrat) for recommending that children should be taught how to masturbate as part of public school curriculum.

Quote:
There have been too many areas where the President does not agree with her views. This is just one too many.

--Leon Panetta, White House Chief-of-Staff.
