Thomas Zehetmair

Wow! I have just made the acquaintance of this superb fiddler via his disc of the Beethoven Violin Concerto and Romances (Philips 462 123-2) recommended by a friend who is a professional violinist. How on earth did I miss him? The guy has chops! Warmly, warmly recommended Audiophile siblings.

Elk, I notice he is a fellow alumnus of the Mozarteum, I don't suppose you were contemporaries by any chance?

Unfortunately, no. He followed almost immediately after.

And I must check out this recording. His quartet his excellent. I expect his solo work is superb.

I agree with Elk wholeheartedly. The Zehetmair Quartet is tremendous... check out the Schumann Quartets. The standout Zehetmair recording for me is his Brahms Concerto.
