You meen your friend didn't even get a box with some bricks in it???
A lesson learned the hard way...but learned.
RG
Ebay specifically warns against using wire transfers to pay for auction items. You have no protection as you would using a credit card or Paypal, and you can't bring any mail fraud charges against the seller as you could have if payment was sent via mail (assuming you can even find the seller). "Wire transfer only" is an immediate red-flag, and ususally signifies a scammer trying to catch someone unawares. Your friend's only recourse it to report this fraud to local authorities in SF and hope that the seller gave his real name (doubtful) and can be tracked down. Also, if it's still active (again doubtful), report the username to eBay and see if they can help any.
Your friend learned a very expensive lesson.
i WOULDN'T BUY ANYTHING THAT AIN'T DONE WITH pAYpAL ON e-BAY...I ONCE DIDN'T RECEIVE an item once, PayPal saved teh day...out of 40 buys, only one skunk, not bad at all, and PayPal made it all good. If the seller is not using Paypal, I don't deal with em.....
When buying on ebay, Paypal is great!
When selling on ebay, Paypal sucks. http://paypalsucks.com/
Thank you everyone. Some good advice. This guy actualy sent a product (repair cost was another $4,500). The money was wired to his account, so I think the name is real.
This board has many people in the analog audio business. I am sure that people know who he is. I have called SFPD and they consider it theft. Any information on this guy will help. We need to suport the good people. The bad people give us audio lovers a bad name.I think he lives in Berkley.
Thank you in advance for your help. audio10000@yahoo.com
