SACD VS DVD-A

I just bought a Denon 3806 and am trying to wade through all the data on which DVD/CD changer to buy. I would like to be able to play as many of the formats as possible and still have excellent quality at a somewhat reasonable price. Am I asking too much?

Denon DVD-2910. Outstanding bang for the buck. Plenty of reviews and forums to research this bang for the buck over-performer.

Hello
I agree with rgibran, plus, since you have 3806,if you go for any denon universal player, you'll have the ability to have your player connected through the "denon digial link" and therefore play back all formats without the need for analogue connection.

I am of the same mind but the OP asked for a changer. Does even Denon make a D-Link changer?

OOOPS! Guess I need to read a bit more carefully. Missed that part. A quick review of Denon's website would seem to indicate they do not make a changer with the "Denon Link" feature. Perhaps the OP is really "asking too much"

Re: SACD VS DVD-A

Denon DVD-5910 is a universal player at around 3500 (USD). Probably the cheapest universal player you can get that still plays all formats extremely well (for the price). It uses the newest Burr-Brown 1792s (also used in the Ayre C-5xe).

I'm using the DVD-5910 for all my sources currently, until I can afford the Ayre C-5xe, then I will go demo and see if I want to invest in that or another device for stereo music playback and will use the DVD-5910 for movies and DVD-A/SACD surround when I'm in the mood.

There are places that Mod the DVD-5910 if you want to get an idea of what Denon didn't do that keeps the player from being high-end (but which likewise keeps the price low).

Good luck!

As far as a changer goes... I don't know of any of decent quality. I've never been in the market for one. Sorry, if this wasn't helpful.
