So you get a much more highly lush, liquid, airy, transparent, very musical and engaging experience with a little indiscernable noise with tubes than solid state. You gotta listen. Many people will prefer the sound tubes provide.

So the goal is not accurate reproduction of the recording, but to add your own flavor decided by whatever distortion box you hook up. The box being the tube amps. nothing like 1% of $20,000 amplification. Tubes amps in guitar amps are for producing teh distortion, sound, when they CREATE the music. Why would you want to add more distortion and add more of your own tone to the recording? DSD was developed to reproduce the original as close to the original recording as possible, then you want to play it back through highly distorted, under powered tubes? Sounds dopey. How come DSD/SACD sounds better than obsolete records, with vinyl having all it's added surface noises, distortion, etc. Silence, exteneded frequency response, dynamic range far superior over a stylus gringing at the grooves.

I'd venture to say that since we are in a forum for people who like vinyl, then someone coming here to tell us for the umpteenth time that all vinyl sucks and "digital rules" should bugger off.

Wouldn't yet another "vinyl sucks" post by DUP be better placed in the digital forum?

Seriously, DUP, go over to Head Fi and try convincing them that they need Legacy speakers instead of headphones.

Headphones can NEVER give the listener teh experience of LIVE music. No body contact with the full impact and SLAM of live music!!! Headphones are for monitoring or airline pilots to communicate with. Listening involves teh entire body experience, like in LIVE music. After all ain't all this talk and re talk all about re creating music, just like it's done LIVE. What live music have you been too, where they all used something on their ears, bisdes ear plugs! Yet, the body is still getting the LIVE impact....and I ain't talking bout' some hip hop one note bass blur....Slam and impact, it's a whole body thing. Headphones are useless for that. And like vinyl, I have some headphones, they just don't do it....they are for checks and monitoring

Ah, good! Glad to see you posting about headphones. I guess you went and posted at Head Fi! How did that go for you?

On this concern you have for SLAM, I wonder just how much SLAM a guy who keeps a tea cup collection next to his SLAMMIN' speakers could really be going after.

Seriously, LIVE SLAMMIN' sound from your rig would dance those cute little ceramics right off your curio shelves.

How exactly does your tea cup collection hold up?

Stuff has been moved recently, tv is gone, that entire assy is history, poof been upgraded to a Philips 42" LCD HDTV with ...Pixel 3 PLUS+++ ambilight....The tea cups are placed in exactly the correct spot for room tuning!!! And they have been seen to move, really. then i have to go put them back in place. SLAM it does a body good! Even classical when going full bore, ya feel it, not just hear it.!! Did MOZART feel the SLAM? Without full body SLAM and impact, it's not reproducing the live event, now really is it? Whispers can be considered full body HEADPHONES.
