1) whether you are black or not makes no difference to me. Who cares if you are- or I am for that matter? And how could I know anyway? Cause of your Forum name? And even if I knew for sure it'd mean nothing to me in the context of a discussion like this. You can just get over yourself Lamont- pulling the race card is the stupidest and most ineffective way to make ANY (emphasis added) point. It's irrelevant.

2) I never thought you or anyone here was uneducated- maybe deluded, paranoid and over-sensitive. You guys are the ones that seem to bring out the "educated" and "elite" labels any time you think you're not winning a debate.

3) You're a lot funnier and insightful when you don't take things so seriously.

This thread is destined for the Dead Zone any minute from now. Think I'll leave now while it's still so fun.

Really guys- I thought conservatives didn't like to whine and cry so much. You guys need to learn to suck it up and act like the gun carrying men you say you are. I never heard so much moaning three weeks into a new administration, not even after W. didn't win the first time around.

More liberal racist bullshit. It gets a pass because because liberals aren't racists? Shut up while your ahead.

You're confusing me with The Science Guy on NPR. He has a Master's in Science. With the Fair Doctrine Act he will be forced to have some asshole Evangelical that we will be forced to listen to. Or even worse. Ann Coulter on NPR. Be careful what you wish for.

That's it. Didn't you say you are the Science Guy ?

I would ask Who TF are you , Lamont?

But I think I've figured out that you don't actually exist. You are the deconstructionist construct of a nihilist comedian

I knew there was a reason I like you.

Re: Next up: The Fair Doctrine Act

IIRC, in a recent study I read a report on, US youth are scoring about 6 points down on their recent tests as compared to before. Ie, today vs 40 years back.

If true----Not good. Very very bad. Psychotically bad. GM Food/seeds bad. HPV bad. Simpsons/Oprah/Lost bad. Grand Theft Auto IV bad. That kinda bad.

Oh. it was a brit study. "For those in the upper half of the intelligence scale - a group typically dominated by the children of middle-class families - average IQ scores were six points down on 28 years ago."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...dy-reveals.html

I doubt it is much better, if at all... in the States.

This is what happens when you let corporations into your governmental systems. They kill you for a dollar, and the people in the government agree, as it's more control for them.. and then you can no longer tell the difference between the two. Pretty soon, while they help you 'sleep' it rages out of control..and the sleep gets deeper....It really is that simple. It's called fascism.

Then the country explodes.

This is the path it has always taken, in History. And the people never see it. Like here, like now.

For example, what was the trigger point for the specific current situation? You have to watch very, very closely..and sometimes it leaves clues. Somebody spoke. Somebody finally farted and we get to smell it. This is what it smells like:

"In an admission stunning for its frankness (and particularly given the fact it originated with a politician whose country is held prisoner by foreign, criminal interests) Rep. Paul Kanjorski, (D, Penn) Chairman of the House

Jane, you ignorant slut.

History? What do you know about history? This is nothing. If you want to know about throes and history look no further than your own family tree in this nation. That's if you have any familial pride. Take the pain and act like a man instead of a schoolgirl. You have to be the biggest panty-waist on the BBS. Pontificating about anything that has no real existence. Going around making fun of your mother because she dresses like a Barbie Doll.

KBK - are you saying that because a study shows that middle-class teenagers took a hit in IQ, that it is the fault of corporations? There is a LOT that has happened in the past 40 years. A whole lot. And there is no way to tell exactly what has caused the supposed drop in IQ. And the study you cite doesn't say otherwise (that is, it doesn't say the study points to a particular cause). The article (in the Daily Mail) vaguely attributes the supposed decline to increased use of computers and computer games, but also notes that "'IQ gains are typically correlated by class, but the results in this case are very mixed. Maybe the rebellious peer culture of the lower half of British society has invaded the peer culture of the upper half."

In other words, your citation does nothing to support your later statements.

But, setting aside the article, the rest of your post relies on the implicit assumption that government will decide what is better for everyone, and therefore should impose its judgment more extensively. I realize that many people can read that assumption and say "Well, yes, of course." And you're entitled to your opinion, but I want to bring that assumption to the forefront. For the record, I strongly disagree that putting things, such as content-based speech regulation, in the hands of government (that is, one with police power). And the Left and Right will both come to regret that decision at some point when the "other" party takes power -- unless you really want to gamble that they won't, and then you can proceed to train people to think the way you think they ought.

I'm not saying anything at all, in the end. People should put in the effort to make up their own minds but try to do with a clear sight that encompasses as much evidence as possible and with as little bias as possible.

Sadly, this is a tall order for most.

I whole-heartedly agree, which is why I posted - I like engaging in productive discourse as a way to develop, strengthen, or re-think positions. And I try not to make it venomous, which is why I hope your last comment was directed toward me specifically (the "tall order" one).

To me, these are critical subjects that have to be handled carefully. Mohamed and mountains, kind of thing. Nothing was aimed at anyone, neither specific or otherwise.

I fear that Lamont is not quite ready to grasp it, as the fundamental that it is.

Apparently the US is now up to 20 states ready to secede and erase the federal branch, as stated by constitutional law....

They need 18 more.

Will it happen in time? Will it actually happen? Or will it be crushed in front of a raging, incited crowd and situation?

Pay attention folks, it's getting down to the wire. Push IS coming to shove, on the biggest level possible.

I hate to get all biblical, but the quote fits on many levels:"If thine Eye offends thee...Pluck It Out."
