My Most Significant Other has accepted that I change my speakers (B&W's Matrix 3 Series 2 3-way floorstanders, 20 years old). I want something good, and I cannot go wrong (or else endure it for the next 20 years) neither with the speakers or the amplifier that drives them.
My listening room is 5 meters x 4 meters (roughly 16' x 13'). My musical preferences go with classical piano, chamber music, opera / vocals and the occasional jazz. I need 2 speakers. No Home Cinema.
I have right now in my radar screen B&W's 803s, which are somewhat above my budget. I have been very happy with my old B&W's but I feel they're rather overpriced. Reading through your posts I have come across NHT's T6 and Anthony Gallo's Nucleus Reference.
i)Suggestions for the Speakers, that have to be bought in Europe.
ii) Matching amplification (Integrated or Pre + Power). I need a MC Phono Input. Again, something that I cannot go wrong with (remember, it's for the next 20 years...). No specific budget here, but something sensible. I have had both transistors and tubes in the past. I'm not necessarily for or against any of them.
Can someone recommend something good. I value sensible stuff, and am rather put off by marketing hype.
Thanks for your feedback.
