Another selective loon who hides behind his facade of pseudo intellectual cinicism. I don't hide or couch my beliefs...but it seems most of the liberal crazies around here do, like OFH. As I said, the record is juvenile and sophmoric. I'll bet you get your news from Steven Colbert and your stereo from Apple

Well, there's the root of the problem right there.

If you are not cynical about American politics, that proves you are a pie eyed talking point drone.

Given your spittle-mouthed lock-step enthusiasm for the usual dogma, I'd wager you have only been told about Colbert by some Fox News segment and have not actually ventured away from your cable company's duo of Fox Channels.

dlb, conservatism is fine, just try to find a way to blend in some cognition.

I geuss the whole God/Creator thing in "The Declaration of Independence" doesn't count. The founders wanted religious freedom and seperation of said religion from the government, but that does not remove it's influence on the principles upon which this country is founded. Just like you can't take the "Chicago Way" out of the 'Bama!

The Founding Fathers, children of the Enlightenment all, were very clear that they regarded religious belief as something personal and that there should be no connection between such belief and the affairs of State. They were implacably opposed to the idea that any one religion should be formally involved in government, even when moral principles that might have sprung from religious belief were to be encouraged. They were, after all, trying to set up a system of government that was _not_ like that of the colonizing power, Great Britain, where the Church was established and very much involved in the exercise of political power.

It is that essential separation between Church and State enshrined in the US Constitution that has led to the wide range of religious beliefs practised on a greater scale in the US than in any other Western country.

You are simply fleshing out the point I just made. They were inextricably influenced by their religion based not only on their individual backgrounds, but by the religous intolerance from whence they fled. We agree...you just deny any religious link whatsoever and that is most definately INCORRECT! To be enlightened requires no forfeiture of ones religious beliefs. On a personal note, I have grown more comfortable with my religion through the study of science....I can reconcile them and understand the importance of both. Our founders were forward thinking, but they were not two dimensional cutouts devoid of any morality or ethics which had their genesis in their religious beliefs.

Ah, Sansui speakers. Back in the early 1970s, I remember a dem at an audio show where the Sansui rep showed how the blast from a Sansui speaker's reflex port could blow out candles. Try doing _that_ with your Ferguson-Hill horns, Buddha! :-)

Robert Baird loved it in the new (April) issue. I am still waiting for the parcel from Amazon.

You may well be right. It is possible to believe in a God while being opposed to the Establishment of a religion.

Doesn't seem fair. He'll get a international best seller and we're stuck on an Internet forum. Maybe we can set up a Website to stop him. Maybe throw in some music. Ask for money. So we can stop him.

Much to my astonishment the website had no effect on Mrs. Sanford. This is what came in the mail today. She reads about 4 books a week.

Re: Karl Rove: Courage and Consequence, the record?

She'll read anything. She's currently reading a book about a cat that lived at a library. No shit. Before that she was reading some fiction (no pun intended). And before that she got that book about the last compaign that is also a best seller. After she read the book I asked what is the deal with Palin. She replied, "She's dumb as a bag of rocks". She mentioned that when Palin was selected to run for VP that Obama told his staff, "This would all be very interesting if we were not right in the middle of all this shit."

Like I mentioned. She reads a variety of books. I was just surprised to see this one come through the mail. Most times I don't pay any attention but this one caught my eye because of this thread. I thought we were going to stop the sale of the book through that website?

They displayed Michael's Savage, "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder". That one was a best seller as well. The guy made a ton of money on it.

Okay here is a music related story and political pundits. Somebody apparently asked Rush what was the classical music he was playing. He didn't exactly answer the question. Next day he said he got a lot of messages about the music so he revealed the artist. It was, "Serie de Oro: Grandes Exitos". He was rated on Amazon at a dismal 220k+ at the time. Within 48 hours he was rated at number 1. A week later he is rated, at this moment, at 76. He is still rated #1 in the following categories.

#1 in Music > World Music > South & Central America
#1 in Music > Pop > Easy Listening > Orchestral Pop
#1 in Music > Latin Music > Latin Pop

Our website to stop Karl Rove just doesn't compare.

Given Rush's ability to sell a weird rendition of some Mozart, it makes you wonder how we wound up with this one party dictatorship, doesn't it? They'll jump on a grotesque musical selection made by a man who is stone deaf. How nuts is that?

I'm starting the two books the HBO miniseries, "The Pacific" is based on. I love reading books about America's Greatest Generation. It keeps me humble.
