No, I tried getting into your house, and failed, leave the stuff outside so I can try it.
imispgh - I had not done this before, but, in the interest of providing you with some more info, I just tried this on my VPI and can report I didn't hear anything.
DUP - If you have nothing helpful to offer, maybe you should refrain from replying. You've done this on more than one occasion, where it looks like an answer to the original poster's question has been offered. One clicks on the reply only to discover he's been DUP'd.
I tried it on a carbon arm yesterday and couldn't hear it either. Time for a new arm
It appears you need a new arm. I just tried your test on my Music Hall MMF-7 which is a very modestly priced TT with the Pro-ject 9 tonearm - a solid aluminum arm tube. No sound through the system either at normal listening levels or at significantly increased levels. Happy shopping.
My VPI-JMW 10 arms don't make no sound either...that means you have some pretty bad resonances, masking stuff. Or simply put, them arm be bad. One bad arm do ruin the entire thing. Oh, and this is nothing AVA or Legacy can cure.
