Fun evening with David Wilson and his new speakers

One of our local, high end retailers (Ne Plus Ultra) put on a demo of David Wilson's new Alexandria and Duette loudspeakers this evening, with Wilson discussing his thoughts on loudspeakers and audio.

I won't make this a long, drawn-out post on the whole evening, but a couple of things that I found noteworthy are:

1. As impressive as the Alexandria speaker is, the Duette completely blew my mind. Under perhaps the worst possible conditions for loudspeaker placement, these little speakers sounded better than anything I have ever heard...well, until we moved on to the Alexandria.

2. David Wilson is a heck of a nice guy and a class act.

3. The Alexandria speaker is perfection.

4. I don't get out much; audio geeks are not normal people.

5. My system sounds terrible tonight.

I told you everything sucks once you go WHISPER. Even you admit your system sounds horrible.

Sounds like a fun evening. I would have enjoyed being there. The Duette speaker you mentioned, is that the replacement for the Cub?

Where can I find out more about these speakers?

Audio geeks sure aren't normal people. I worked for three years to get a local audio club started, and it was fun until one jerk who determined neutrality was a negetive took everything over. As for as I know they don't really do anything anymore except listen to each others systems, and get falling-down-drunk.

I was fun when we had manufacturers giving demos and showing their new gear, but...

I wish I lived within 200 miles of a real HiFi shop! I envy you Monty!
