First off, let me just say, Robert (Baird), I really enjoyed the story (Aural Robert - "Love and/or Marriage") about the record store. And I hope your wife is as forgiving as mine.
But one of your comments towards the end is a slight mis-representation. You mentioned 4AD Records as an American label. 4AD records was in fact founded by Ivo Watts-Russell and based out of London. And FWIW, just to add a little more history - the first record to have the 4AD label was the single "Dark Entries" by Bauhaus (in 1980) and the first full-length album was "In The Flat Field" by Bauhaus. But IMHO, it was Cocteau Twins (beginning in 1982) and Dead Can Dance (beginning in 1984) that really put 4AD on the map as well as the compilation band This Mortal Coil.
