CEC makes a nice little player that offers a balanced or RCA connection. It runs around $600.00 or so. I forget the model number, but it partners with their (also balanced) integrated at around $700.00 or the larger integrated at around $1200.

That is exactly along the lines that i am looking for, i don't know if i will ever own a Esoteric, Krell or Marantz, however i did want to see if the XLR connection does make a difference in my 4bst, even for an inexpensive player (that is compared with the cost of the above. Thanks!
Thanks DUP for your reply, i had come across the Tascam, but had viewed them as more geared toward studio use versus home listening, however i will take a closer look.
