Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts
Emory University
Saturday, March 24, 4PM

I had the pleasure of attending a free recital of Ms. Barry this day, and what a remarkable concert it was. The playing was first rate. The venue, Emerson Concert Hall had acoustic to die for. And, it was free for crying out loud. How could people be sitting at home listening to mp3s with an opportunity like this?

Ms. Barry is a Senior Honor Student at Emory, graduating with a BS degree in Chemistry with a major in Music. She is a dean

I forgot there add there is an excellent organ recital/concert at the Emerson Concert Hall on Sunday, March 25 at 4PM with a sampler of Bach's Goldberg Variations on the remarkable Daniel Jaeckle Op.45 Pipe Organ. Details of this remarkable instrument can be found at Jaeckel Organ

Excellent review, fun to read.

Chemistry and music double major - not an easy accomplishment.

Don't hesitate to move closer. As a performing musician I can state that I like nothing more than an appreciative audience that cares enough to get close.

I attended the Mozarteum in Salzburg. While there I went to many concerts of Musica Antiqua K

Re: Adrienne Barry, Violin Recital/Emory Univ.

Thanks. This is: Is it live or Memorex (you may be too young to remember how Memorex hyped their cassette tape) is getting interesting. It may be that we often get so caught up in the gear we (I) need a reminder of what real music sounds like in a great venue.

The two Sat concerts of Organ at 1PM and Solo Piano at 4 should grear fun. With the Final 4 here in ATL this weekend I am hoping traffic is not too bad.

I am posting all of Ms. Corbett's comments here:

Dear Mr. Tavegia,

Thank you for your note and interest in our programs and facilities. We
are glad your attended the recital. I am happy to report that Adrienne
Barry just dropped by our office for her performer's copy of her recital
recording.

I'll provide a little background on what we do. We archive performance
recordings in our Heilbrun Music and Media Library. In addition, we
provide live online streaming of some concerts. Since we are not the
right's holder to some of the newer works performed here and because
artist's do not always give us broadcasting or online permission (prior
or after hearing their recording), we do not necessary make recordings
for all concerts for the purpose of broadcast. However, select
performances are recorded for broadcast on public radio programs. This
is handled through a local freelance company that records certain
concerts for us, the ASO, Spivey, and others primarily for later use on
public radio. We eventually will have short clips of each ensemble on
our websites but probably not full concerts.

I will share your information with my supervisor Bob McKay and my
colleague in charge of our recordings Matt Williamson. They may wish to
share more information with you about our decisions about what is
recorded and our process. We would be grateful if you linked to our
homepage from your site as your site visitors may wish to peruse our
calendar or sign up for our email list.

You can link to a recording of the Jaeckel organ at
http://pipedreams.publicradio.org/listings/0639/.

Again, thank you for your strong interest in the music performed at
Emory. We hope you will stay in touch with us if you have ideas for
collaboration in the future.

Sincerely,
Sally
