Whenever available. Second-turntable

Even with a modest Goldring turntable since last Christmas, I've never had more pleasure listening to vinyl. May it last forever!

New iPod 80 GB hooked up to a tube amp.

CBC radio in Canada has lots of ecclectic music. Most of my CDs were bought after hearing them first on those stations.

200 disc changer as a transport with a Theta Digital Chroma 396 DAC

99,5 % vinyl. Why? It sounds so natural to my ears.

An even split between FM radio and DAB radio.

Have a NAD five-disc player that handles both DVDs and CDs well. Not a "reference" device, but meets most of my needs.

The turntable makes a beautiful noise, but CDs and SACDs are nearly there, and so much more convenient. Actually, the SACDs are probably there, but I only have a few dozen. When a good music server (like the McIntosh MS300) which stores the music in a lossless format becomes affordable I am probably going to upload all my CDs into one and free up acres of shelf space in my living room.

I use an inexpensive DVD player (currently a Pioneer DV-653A) with the MSB Network card installed, and connect it via a CAT-5 cable to an MSB Platinum Plus latter-DAC. This process both eliminates jitter and has far greater and more accurate resolution than any chip based DAC, no matter how many tubes are added.

Vinyl and turntables have spoiled me. Cannot listen to it any other way, unless I'm desperate.

We use the CD player most, but often enough we listen to an old LP. But FM is always there for casual listening, too.

Still old fashioned, I am. Just not buying into the PC music server trend yet, what with all the issues of DRM, hard to configure open source software, proprietary software (Microsoft/Apple), etc.

I love my analog rig, but as busy as I am right now, CD wins via ease of use.

I was in the market for a high-resolution format player. During that time I listened to a turntable and that was it. I was hooked to the sound of vinyl. I then visited two high-end local stores to audition 2K to 4K turntables and SACD players. I only listened to the same recordings on both formats in order to have a more accurate A-B comparison. The sound of vinyl was much closer to a real live sound experience. I even added a Benchmark Media DAC-1 to my Krell CD player and the sound is still not even close to my Wilson-Benesch Full Circle/Sumiko Black Bird/Graham Slee Era Gold V combo. I've listened to some 10K+ SACD players and I still regard vinyl as the only pure format. It doesn

SACD is the best sounding format we have

CDs rule my listening, with vinyl a distant second and reel-to-reel tape in third place. I can't even recall the last time I used my tuner; the one local FM station that broadcasts classical music compresses it so horribly that I can't stand to listen to it.
