but of course in a plex i have to be careful of the neighbors tendencies. He's ussually out at night too, so i get my listening in most of the time.
Have you ever noticed a time of day when your musical enjoyment seems to be consistently at its peak?
Much to my chagrin (and the accompanying annoyance of my one "shared wall" neighbor), I am a night owl who does a great deal of late night listening. Then, the power grid is cleaner and environmental noises are fewer, which makes everything sound better, further encouraging this antisocial behavior. The neighbor was forewarned about my audio affliction when I moved in and, more importantly, forearmed with my phone number and the invitation to call whenever things became intolerable and petition for peace . . . and quiet.
Many audiiophile friends have commented that their sound quality improves after about 10:30pm when many people go to bed and the power grid "quiets down." I have noticed this improvement so many times that I am firmly convinced of the correlation.
When the day's chores are done and the workday is long behind me, I can finally clear my mind and concentrate on the music. Do this much past midnight, though, and I'm likely to doze off no matter how good the music is (does this mean I need a system upgrade? :). Besides, how many of us have the flexibility to listen in the middle of the day?
