"Extra" bass? As in more bass? Why not just turn the subwoofer you presently have up a notch or two? There are advantages to dual subwoofers in one room, but "extra" bass isn't necessarily one of them.
Read some of Floyd Toole's articles.

You very well might get "extra" bass by upgrading your receiver. Often if it runs out of steam, or doesn't have the dynamic headroom bass and overall range in general will suffer. The other thing to consider is where your sub is situated. If possible try out a few locations as you may be getting waves canceling each other out. My understanding is that every 6" for a sub will affect it's interaction with the mains speakers.
You can use Y-connectors to good advantage (Monster makes cheap ones that work well).
Put the "Y" ends into the output jacks on both subs. Then plug the single ends from each sub into your receiver/amp/preamp.
I tried a single sub for quite awhile, but hated fussing with it -- I had to change the volume and even the position of the sub on nearly every recorded selection. When I added a second sub (indentical brand and model), it solved most of the problems.
Not only was the sound more realistically loaded into the room, but there was less boom and a sense of deeper, more musical, more well-defined bass.
Changing your receiver may or may not help the bass -- it depends on the sensitivity of your speakers and the ease or difficulty of the load presented to your amplifier.
Good luck in setting things up...
Where did you set up the 2nd sw? same wall as 1st one, or different wall? I've heard that setting it up "asymmetrically" will help avoid getting the same peaks and nulls as the 1st one in the room. Placement recommendations?
Clifton, Do you have 2 LFE outs on your pre/pro/receiver? Or are you splitting the one to both subs? Sorry, I'm a little confused. rvance
