at the cartridge wiring/interconnect interface. To rule out the wiring and make the cartridge the likely culprit, check the continuity of the output cables by connecting a multimeter to each RCA connector and the corresponding contact at the headshell with the cartridge removed. Then check the continuity of the two inner ground contacts at the rear of the cartridge with the turntable's ground connector, which should be attached to the turntable ground of the amplifier.

Well, the good news is that the problem appears to be the audio cable and not the tone arm. I took off the tone arm and did a continuity check and did find that the white RCA cable does not pass a signal from the right angle housing to the RCA plug (whereas the red RCA cable does pass a signal). The bad news is that there are tiny solders that connect the five tiny, colored wires from the tone arm to the right angle plastic housing at the end of the thick audio out cable. I suppose I'll need to find a Rega dealer nearby (in Los Angeles) to see if I can order a replacement cable and then test out my micro-soldering skills.

Any suggestions or words of advice?

RCA cable and cut one end off it, strip the end and solder it in.
