The Wharfdales combined with a selfpowered sub should be pretty darn efficient. I'm wondering what you're hearing that you don't like, or what you'd like your system is not doing that you'd like to get.
Several of us here are classical musicians and many more enjoy listening to classical music. The little Warfdales should image very well and a good sub will take care of the bottom end power needed.
Maybe you should stay with you current amp and start saving for the REL (one of the very best values for the money). Still, I'd like to hear what you trying to fix or achieve.
Dave
I know this may sound crazy but... I just replaced my old stranded & somewhat oxidized speaker wire with 18 Gauge solid copper wire from Radioshack ($6) and everything sounds much better.
Either its the wire OR I maybe I had one of the speakers out of phase or something.
I want the T3 but $500 is a lot of $ for me! (considering I got my preamp, amp, & speakers for under $300) Maybe one will pop up on ebay!
Sorry I forgot to answeer your question about why I need an amp- I've been running everything of the sub and one of the speaker clips broken and the wire keep coming out and making me nuts.
I read something recently that stated one of the problems with many wire installations is the interaction of the fields, (electromagnetic) of multiconductor cabling.
In all my (limited) experimenting with wires and cables the greatest impact I have heard has been changing between single and multistrand also.
