I haven't heard these speakers, and don't wish to dispute any of Larry Greenhill's findings - but feel uncomfortable with his unqualified conclusion that they will have the same positive effects in other systems that he heard in his own. Surely the Quad full-range electrostatics, more than any other speaker that springs immediately to mind, stand to benefit from a decent sub; both from the bass reinforcement (addressing its one acknowledged weakness), and also by removing problemmatic low frequencies from the main panel - really quite a unique situation, when the vast majority of commercial speakers already use multiple drivers. I just think that the effect of these subs with other, more representative, speakers should've been tried to justify such a glowing and general recommendation. Perhaps grounds for a follow-up?

The f113 was equally efficacious with the B&W 802Ds and the Revel Studio2s.

As another data point, JL Audio subs are respected by a number of mastering engineers. These guys are incredibly picky about their speakers and amps.
