Ironic he is using current modern 21st century (well developed in 20th century) to tell clingers on of obsolete technolgy how to make the old technology work. Does anyone still use open reel-reel tape decks, don't they sound better than modern digital say SanDisk memory cards used in a neat TASCAM portable digital recorder, . It's big, it's heavy, it analog so Ree-Reel must has mysticism in it to sound better than a nice small light weight portable TASCAM. Recently seen in use a LIVE gig, 2 hours of recording on a sliver of a card about 1/8 inch thick by about 2 inches, incredible!!! Tascam recorder lists for only about $1,000. Incredible, but let's hang on to obsolete TT, heck they are big, over priced must be better. And I have one myself (VPI/JMW 10, etc), cumbersome, awkward, lotsa efffort to get 22 minutes of music. Oops gotta get up and flip it now hang on. And it doesn't sound any better than SACD, SACD smokes em'. MF has/is trying cater to people who are getting brainwashed into submission. Wake up, digital recording smokes analog, in every aspect. Ease of use, portabilty, etc. And the SOUND!!! Have em all, DSD is teh way to go. And no vaccuming my SACD's. Have one of tehm too, VPI 16.5...it's a novelty, makes people grin when they watch me vacuum my LP's...
If you dislike analog so much why participate in analog discussions? If you don't have something constructive to say don't bother to speak. Next year how many SACD's will you be able to purchase since Sony seems to be ignoring them.
Joe - I agree. With all this talk in the audio news of plugging the "analogue hole", I can't help but think there's one a-hole that I wouldn't mind seeing get plugged up on occasion.

Touche, Jeff. Vinyl is probably as "confusing" as Jazz and Classical -- the pictures on DVD may help in understanding how the notes are made. I'll probably get the instructional set-up video MF is peddling. It sounds like just the thing for a ham-fisted, sausage-fingered old fool such as I, even though I probably won't make any system changes in my analog setup for awhile. Now, if only I can get my DVD player to work, so I can watch the instruction. Cheers, Clifton
dang it, been away to long, forgot to sign in, that above post was mine
"Where/when can I get one?" Music Direct for one place. June, according to them. I suspect there will be other sources as well.
Hope this specific referral is within the rules of the forum.
thanks! Skate
for forum rules, I imagine your post isn't poor form
If not however, I caught the info before they caught you!
I beleive there is an instructional AUDIO cassette out on how to setup DVD/SACD players. If you can't get your cassette player working there is a 78 record out with Ethel Mermon doing the read on how to setup your cassette player. If your 78 TT don't work, or you need instructions, there are Edison cylinders available for your original crank player. I hear Edison cylinders are the highest fidelity ever, since it's as close to first generation as you can get. too bad it only playsone song..Mary had a little lamb. Wonder if Edison used footers, or Edingo Discs.
LOL
Ha!
Hey Dup, excuse my ignorance, whats an Edingo Disc, I found only limited info in my google search.
EDingo discs are the ORIGINAL..EDison...get it?...pre Mapingo. Come on, put your funny bone in gear.
thats my problem I didn't know what a mapingo disk was. From what I now understand mapingo's are a tweak with new-agey physics roots. I'm a new audiophile and generally stay as far away from tweaks I can't find from dollarstores and scrounging.
The problem is, that's just not funny!
YES it IS!!! Now go read it AGAIN and LAUGH!!!! Maybe you need laughing grade brain cells? Your brain electrons are stuck at teh non laughing grade nerve endings up somewhere north of the logic center.
Do you reference my synapses?
