Tube Depot gives no power output specs for that amplifier, which is rather odd.

From the tube types being used, however, it can be estimated that the output power is probably around 15 watts per channel or less.

That is not very much power. You would need speakers that have a sensitivity of at least 92 db/watt to get much sound from it.

So, 40 years later after my Sanyo stack that served me so well for my mixed tapes and casual listening to tapes and albums I’ve decided to go for a more adult setup.

So far, I’ve acquired a Technics B2 turntable and a Model 16LS Stereo Integrated Tube Amplifier from tube depot.com.

Near as I can tell, all I’m in need for is a good set of speakers. I was hoping someone could recommend a good kit (I prefer the DIY approach).

I’m still learning the delicate balances between the amp and speakers to get optimal effect and was hoping for some guidance here.

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

They spec the amplifiers, both mono and stereo at 16wpc. And the model is the 16L, so theres a sign. In a small room you could use those amps with almost any speaker, although for that sense of "jump" you'd expect from a good tube amp you might enjoy a more sensitive AND efficient speaker. While related, they are not the same, as comm would usually point out. A set of small Klipsh may be perfect, provided you aren't aiming them right at your face. Those stupid horns don't image wonderfully anyway, you might as not accentuate the brightness and enjoy the transparent voices and clean bass.

Anyway, enjoy your new run of gear.
