Hi,

I have an OLED LG 65" B6.

I'm looking to buy a system which will be 60/40 music/movies. I live in an apartment and the living room is about 3 x 4.5m with glass doors on 2 sides with heavy curtains over them. My budget is about $4000 AU.

The LS50s seem to be good value but I'm struggling to fill the other parts of it out. I want to pair them with a sub like the rel t5 but it seems difficult to source in Australia, so maybe the PB1000.

I don't know what to do with the receiver. The Denon AVR X2300 is 700$ AU but apparently it won't sufficiently power the speakers? My goal would be to get extra speakers later to make it 5.1.

Anyone have any advice on whether I should just get a 2.1 receiver with better output vs the Denon?

Cheers

There are very few AV receivers that will adequately power those speakers. Despite their specs, reviewers all say they take a pretty powerful amp to make them come alive.

Also, if you want to go to 5.1 eventually, I question whether they will match up well with the other speakers you can buy.

I suggest that you get the X4200, which has a bit more power and is only about 20% more money.

I also suggest that you choose some other speakers that will be more suitable than the LS50.

I suggest that you look under magentaaudio.com.au/dealers. There is an extensive list of Australian audio dealers there.

I suggest that you consider the B & W 652 S2, the Focal Chorus 706, and one of the PSB speakers. They all seem to be available in Australia. Tannoy might also have something to suit you.
